The biggest and boldest of the Viandante del Cielo lineup, is the wine that shares the property's namesake. Modeled after the respected wines of Bordeaux, the 2018 Viandante del Cielo leads with structure and poise. Rich aromatics of pipe tobacco, dried plum, espresso and dark cocoa powder, this wine wields power immediately out of the bottle. Savory notes of beef jerky, warm cedar, and cigar further propel the ripe fruit on the nose. On the palate black cherry, prunes, and redwood bark captivate the senses. Structurally, this wine is a piece of art in how the rich tannins of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot compliment the French oak aging with such grace. This wine demands food and serves as a welcome match to game such as venison medallions, or seared duck breast with plum reduction.
